The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued a joint request for public comment on potential approaches to further harmonize regulatory frameworks applicable to portfolio margining across securities and derivatives.
The request seeks input on ways to align margin requirements for related positions held in different asset classes, which could reduce costs and operational burdens for market participants.
Comments will be accepted for a period of 60 days after publication in the Federal Register, according to the agencies.
