The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued a joint request for public comment on potential opportunities to harmonize, modernize, and streamline data reporting requirements in their regulation of security-based swap and swap markets.
The request seeks input from market participants and the public on ways to improve the efficiency and consistency of data reporting across the two regulatory frameworks, according to the SEC press release.
Comments will help the agencies consider potential changes to reduce burdens and enhance the quality of data available to regulators and the public.
