The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued a joint request for public comment on potential opportunities to further update, clarify, and harmonize certain derivatives product definitions.
The request seeks input from market participants and the public on ways to improve consistency and reduce regulatory uncertainty in the classification of derivatives products.
Comments will help the agencies consider whether adjustments to existing definitions are necessary to reflect market developments and promote efficiency.
The SEC and CFTC encourage interested parties to submit their views within the specified comment period.
