Jaafar Jackson is set to join Will Smith in the upcoming action thriller 'Supermax', directed by David Gordon Green. The film is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios and Miramax.
Smith and actress AnnaSophia Robb will play FBI agents investigating a murder inside a dangerous maximum-security prison. Jackson's role has not been disclosed.
This marks Jackson's next major project after his acclaimed performance as Michael Jackson in the biographical drama 'Michael', directed by Antoine Fuqua. Jackson, son of Jermaine Jackson, recreated iconic dance moves and received praise for capturing the singer's essence. The film grossed over $1 billion worldwide.
The screenplay is written by David Weil and David J. Rosen. Production is expected to begin soon, with a theatrical release planned followed by streaming on Prime Video.
Producers include Alex Heineman and Andrew Rona of The Picture Company, along with Will Smith and Adam Fishbach for Westbrook. Executive producers are Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, Thom Zadra, Spencer Ela, David Weil, and David J. Rosen.
