Background
The UConn Formula SAE team designs, builds, and races Formula-style cars, providing hands-on engineering education. For the second consecutive year, the team developed both a traditional combustion-powered vehicle and an electric vehicle.
The team is open to all students and has benefited from contributions across disciplines, including engineering, business, finance, and marketing. This multidisciplinary approach has been central to the team's success.
Current Situation
This summer, the team competed in two national competitions at Michigan International Speedway. In May, they placed 4th overall out of 111 teams in the FSAE Internal Combustion Competition. In June, they placed 5th overall out of 89 teams in the FSAE Electric Vehicle Competition.
Combining these results, UConn is the top finisher among U.S. teams. At the IC competition, the team achieved 9th in cost presentation, 80 points in design presentation, 3rd in business presentation, 4.465 seconds in acceleration, 5.092 seconds in skidpad, and 6th in autocross. At the EV competition, they placed 7th in endurance, 5th in autocross, 4th in skidpad, 17th in acceleration, 4th in efficiency, 5th in business presentation, and 5th in cost presentation.

Impacts
