iPhone 17 Pro Prices: Japan Cheapest, Türkiye Most Expensive

Deutsche Bank survey of 41 markets finds Japan cheapest for iPhone 17 Pro at $1,121, Türkiye priciest at $2,592, exceeding expected foldable iPhone price.

A Deutsche Bank survey of 41 markets shows Japan offers the cheapest iPhone 17 Pro at $1,121 (£835), while Türkiye has the highest price at $2,592 (£1,930). The US price is $1,181, and the UK ranks 23rd at $1,476.

The price differences largely reflect national tax policies. Sixteen of the 20 most expensive markets are European, where advertised prices include VAT. Hungary's 27% VAT makes it the most expensive in the EU at $1,826.

Türkiye's price stems from multiple levies: a 1% culture ministry fee, a 12% state broadcaster fee, a 50% special consumption tax, and 20% VAT. A weakening lira and high inflation also contribute.

The Turkish price exceeds forecasts for Apple's first folding iPhone, expected to launch around $2,399, according to Fubon Research. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo projects a $2,000–$2,500 range, but Apple has not confirmed these figures.

Importing a cheaper phone is not a solution for Turkish residents, as registering a foreign phone's IMEI costs about $1,263, and unregistered devices work for only 120 days.
