A tenant in Greenock says he has been forced to abandon his bedroom after thousands of wasps infested his top-floor flat. Craig McDonald, 38, says the insects have repeatedly stung him, his two dogs, and his cat.
The wasps entered through cracks in the ceiling about two weeks ago. McDonald says he can no longer enter the room and has had to sleep elsewhere. He is worried about his pets and his own health, saying he has not slept properly in ten days.
McDonald says he contacted his landlord, Oak Tree Housing Association, which initially doubted it was a wasp nest due to the time of year. Pest control was sent, but the nest remains. He also contacted environmental health, which told him to go through his landlord.
Oak Tree Housing Association said in a statement: 'We are aware of the issue raised by Mr McDonald and are dealing with him directly with a view to resolving the matter as quickly as possible. As this concerns an individual tenant and his home, it would not be appropriate for us to comment further on the details of the case.'
