Event Overview
Downtown Peterborough will transform into a pedestrian-only festival streetscape on Friday, Aug. 7, as the town hosts its annual Night Market from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The free event features live music, local vendors, family activities, and regional food options across the historic downtown area. A rain date is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8.
The event is sponsored by local organizations and businesses, including Bar Harbor Bank, Rivermead, Blue Finch Partners, Belletetes, and the Town of Peterborough.
What to Expect
Musical performances will trace the evolution of American music styles from jazz to ska and funk, with a lineup headlined by The 603 Brass Band, alongside DJ Decor and Adam Arnone. The lineup also includes a performance preview of 'Emma' by the Peterborough Players, as well as acrobatic and fire-juggling displays by The Flying Gravity Circus.
A Makers Market will host more than 70 regional artisans selling artwork, home decor, apparel, and plants. Additional activities include a community mural project led by artist Loren Beata, interactive displays from The Caterpillar Lab, arcade games, and a nine-hole mini-golf course designed by the MAXT Junior Creative Youth Group.
At the Peterborough Town Library, attendees can participate in a magnetic poetry wall, make commemorative buttons, and play lawn games near the Night Owl Bar and riverside deck. More than 10 outdoor food vendors and the Our Town Farmers' Market will operate alongside local brick-and-mortar eateries. Event maps will be distributed to attendees on site.

If weather permits, the event will proceed as scheduled on Aug. 7; otherwise, the rain date of Aug. 8 will be used. Attendees are advised to check local announcements for any changes.
The success of this year's market could encourage continued sponsorship and participation in future editions, potentially expanding the vendor list and entertainment lineup. However, such outcomes remain speculative and depend on community response and organizer plans.
