SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A couple living at Camelot Place apartments says ongoing problems with bed bugs, mold, and water leaking into their unit have made their home unlivable. Breanna Hamilton and Andrew Grgich told reporters that conditions worsened last summer when bed bugs first appeared, and rain entered their apartment.
Grgich said the situation has affected medical care: 'I can't even get medical rides to and from doctor's appointments because of this situation.' Hamilton added that in-home care and rides have been denied due to the bed bug issue. Their unit was sprayed for bed bugs in July 2025 and again on July 7 of this year, but the problem persists.
Hamilton said they reported bed bugs in the laundry room, but that request was removed without updates. She also said management told them new treatments would not be charged due to a lifetime guarantee from the pest control company. However, follow-up requests have gone unanswered.
Regarding water damage, management provided a dehumidifier, but it was too costly to run and later taken back because other apartments flooded. Hamilton said they stayed up all night mopping and using shop vacs to protect belongings, which is why their unit had minimal damage.
The couple decided not to renew their lease and plan to leave. Hamilton hopes management will improve for remaining residents. The property management company, based in Indiana, said in an email it has no reports of substantial issues. The couple says they filed complaints through the company's recommended app.
