The European Commission has announced a call for proposals under the Borderlands V – West Africa programme, allocating EUR 25 million to support cross-border initiatives in the Côte d’Ivoire–Mali–Guinea border regions.
The funding aims to strengthen peacebuilding, conflict prevention, socio-economic development, natural resource governance, anti-trafficking efforts, and community resilience. Projects must be implemented by consortia of eligible non-profit organizations.
The programme is divided into two lots: Lot 1, with EUR 15 million, targets the Mali–Guinea–Côte d’Ivoire tri-border area; Lot 2, with EUR 10 million, focuses on the Guinea–Côte d’Ivoire forest zone.
The EU will finance between 70% and 95% of eligible project costs, with projects expected to last 48 to 60 months. The submission deadline for the first-stage Concise Note is 6 October 2026, via the PROSPECT system.
Eligible applicants include NGOs, public operators, local authorities, and international organizations established in an EU Member State or an eligible NDICI country. Applicants must demonstrate experience in West Africa and in at least two target countries.
