Japan’s agriculture ministry reported on Tuesday that exports of farm, forestry, and fishery products increased by 10.9% in the first half of the year, reaching a record high.
From January to June, exports totaled 897.7 billion yen ($5.7 billion), up from 809.7 billion yen in the same period last year, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).
The ministry attributed the growth to strong sales of beef, apples, rice, green tea, blended sauces, and Japanese amberjack.
This marks the second consecutive year that first-half exports have set a new record.
