The Archbishop of Canterbury, Sarah Mullally, visited the Saint Theresa Anglican Church in Yegassi, on the outskirts of Yaoundé, on August 3, 2026, as part of her five-day pastoral journey to Cameroon.
During her visit, she prayed with the faithful and met with parish priest Father Ndjomo Depasse, who presented the church's economic plan for cocoa farming, conservation, transformation, and sales.
Father Depasse noted that despite challenges from pesticides and climate change, they have improved yields, citing Proverbs 12:11: 'He who works his farm will be filled with bread.'
Archbishop Mullally emphasized the Church's role in ensuring human wellbeing, drawing a parallel between the biblical story of Jacob wrestling with God and the Christians' struggles with agricultural problems.
